Verlon Gerald Albert (Gerry) Cook passed away very peacefully in Shuswap Lake General Hospital, Salmon Arm, BC on May 26, 2011 at the age of 71 years.

Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on October 17, 1939. In 1957 Gerry joined the Royal Canadian Air Force, giving 20 years service, gaining respect for his dedication and precision with all levels of his work. He then began a long career in the Forest industry which included work around the world. In 1987 Bill Newnes encouraged him to come to Salmon Arm and work with Newnes, this was welcomed by Gerry and Evelyn as they quickly fell in love with the community, both becoming active in the Shuswap.

Predeceased by his sister, mother, father, step mother and his aunt whom raised him, Gerry is survived by his wife of 41 plus years, Evelyn, 2 sons, Kenn (Deb) and Michael all of Salmon Arm.

A celebration of life service will be held from the chapel of Bowers Funeral Home on Friday morning, June 24th at 11 a.m. with Reverend Daryl Auten officiating. Tributes will be shared by nephew David Blue and cousin Barry Rust. Special music will be provided by Freida Paetsch, as well as the Last Post and honors by the Royal Canadian Legion.
