Gilbert Oliver Flaata of Scotch Creek passed away on August 2, 2011 at 89 years of age. Survived by his loving wife Myrtle, children Glenn (Joyce) Flaata of Scotch Creek, Carl (Debby) Flaata of Cranbrook, Faith (James) Crosson of Clinton, Lynn (Dennis) Richardson of Lumby, grandchildren Sean (Signi), Julie (Shane), Amy (Richard), Bonnie (Gene), Mandx (Nick), Jesse, Scott, Aysa and Bethany, great grandchildren Michael, Michelle, Vanessa, Reese, Jonah, Emily, Sophia and numerous nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his parents Martin and Inga Flaata, Siblings Marvin, Helmer, Percy, Myrtle and Edna. Gilbert was born in Bromhead Saskatchewan, he worked on the Alaska Highway at the Trail Smelter and in the Forest Industry on Vancouver Island. Gilbert retired after 35 years at the You Bou Sawmill. Gilbert and Myrtle traveled across Canada and the USA in their motor home, they also volunteered at an orphanage in Mexico. Gilbert and Myrtle moved to Scotch Creek in the fall of 1993, where they hosted family and friends. Gilbert was very dedicated to his wife of 64 and a half years, his family and Jesus Christ, his savior.
