Gladys passed away peacefully, Thursday, October 8, 2009 at 9:50 p.m. in Shuswap Lake General Hospital, Salmon Arm in her 94th year. She was born Gladys Helen Ernestine Taylor in Pinkham, SK, the only child of Ernest and Buda Taylor. She leaves behind her only son William (Cindy) Robertson of Sicamous, BC, granddaughter Chelsea (Karl) Meier, grandsons Charlie, Colin and Dallen all from Abbotsford, BC, niece Ardene (Perry) Lund of Kelowna, their children Nicole (Bill) Wilson of Lethbridge, Craig (Mary Ann) Lund of Calgary, Gregory (Laura) Lund of Vancouver and their families.
Gladys was predeceased by her husband Bert Robertson on September 17th, 1972. After her husband passed away, Gladys took up golfing. She also enjoyed playing cards, curling, bowling, doing crossword puzzles and her beloved Toronto Blue Jays. During her life, Gladys lived in Pinkham, SK, Chilliwack, BC, Revelstoke, BC, Vernon, BC and Salmon Arm, BC.
Gladys was a school teacher in the 30’s. After the depression, she became a registered nurse. The family wishes to express a sincere thank you to the medical team and nursing staff in Shuswap Lake General Hospital who were trusted with Gladys’ care. Also to Piccadilly Terrace, where Gladys lived for her last few years and where she acquired many new friends.
A celebration of life service and reception will be held at Fischer’s Funeral Services on Friday, October 23rd, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Glen Fraser officiating. Interment of cremated remains will follow on October 28th, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. in Mountainview Cemetery, Revelstoke, BC.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donation in Gladys’ name may be made to the CNIB, PO Box 32002, STN BRM B, Toronto, ON, M7Y 5R2 or Salmon Arm Salvation Army, PO Box 505, Salmon Arm, BC, V1E 4N6.
