Gordon Hagan Bergstrom was born in Meeting Creek, AB on May 7th, 1924 and passed away peacefully on February 7th, 2012 at Bastion Place, Salmon Arm at the age of 87 years. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Eunice of sixty five years, son Gerald, granddaughters Michelle (Stacey) and Lesley (Mike), three great grandsons, as well as many wonderful friends. He was predeceased by his infant daughter Cheryl Ann in 1956.

Gordon served honourably overseas in the Royal Canadian Air Force for two and a half years. In 1946 he married his best friend Eunice Tighe in Winnipeg, Manitoba. From there, they moved and settled in on the West Coast of Vancouver, soon after their son Gerald was born in 1955. In 1971 they moved to Salmon Arm, B.C. Gordon owned and operated a number of successful small businesses including a Barber Shop, Snap On Tools and a Laundromat. This helped secure Gordon’s early retirement at the age of 55 and allowed him time to enjoy the things he loved so dearly such as, family, friends and many travel adventures throughout the world. Gordon’s other great passion in life involved being an active member of both the Salmon Arm Masons and the Vernon Shrine Club.

There will be no service held by Gordon’s request. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Shriner’s Hospital for Crippled Children, donorrelations@shrinenet.org would be most appreciated. Gordon’s family would like to thank Dr. Levins and all of the medical staff for their compassionate care and help in giving Gordon a peaceful end to a well lived life.
