1930 - 2008

On October 1st, 2008 Gordy of Canoe, BC passed away peacefully at the age of 78, in Salmon Arm, BC with his family by his side.

Gordy was born on April 9, 1930 in Morris, Manitoba, and grew up in Surrey, BC. He spent the majority of his working career as a devoted employee of Rivtow Straits. Gordy was an avid outdoorsman, skilled crib player, amateur inventor, a loyal Canucks fan, a master mechanic, a loving father and grandfather, and a friend to all. In his later years he spent as much time as possible at his Gold Claim in the Monashee Mountains, where he never struck it rich, but where he found his real treasure in the form of time spent with his friends and family.

He also leaves behind his sister Linda MacDonald (Bill), his sister-in laws Carol Brown (Howie) and Lorna Lenson, as well as his many nieces and nephews and extended family members.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 18th at 2:00 pm, at Fischer’s Funeral Services, 4060 - 1st Avenue SW, Salmon Arm. Donations in memory of Gordy may be made to the Cancer Society of BC, PO Box 3451, Salmon Arm, BC, V1E 4S2.
