It is with heavy hearts, but with deep love and fond memories, we announce the sudden passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, relation and friend, Gordon Ormsby Lee. Gordon passed away at his home in Blind Bay, with his wife Evelyn at his side, March 2, 2011. He was born April 17, 1928 to Jesse Isobel (nee Blair) and John Ormsby Lee in Murrayville, BC. His family moved to White Rock, BC when Gordon was 10 where he grew up and graduated from Semiahmoo High School. After graduation Gordon worked in the banking industry, initially in White Rock but then transferred to Merritt, Kelowna and Rossland. He married Evelyn Patricia McEnaney, August 16, 1952 in New Westminster and they settled in White Rock, where Gordon was a customs officer on trains for 7 years. In 1958 they moved to Davenport, Iowa so Gordon could attend Palmer Chiropractic College. Their first son, James Gordon, was born in 1961 while they lived in Davenport. In 1962 they returned to Canada to Grande Prairie, AB where Gordon practiced as a Chiropractor for 14 years. While in Grande Prairie there were two more additions to their family, Maureen Patricia in 1965 and Fraser Patrick in 1968. In 1976, Gordon and Evelyn decided to move their young family back to BC and settled in Salmon Arm. Gordon again used his special gift of being able to help people and built a successful Chiropractic practice, practicing until he retired at the age of 71 in 1999. That same year he and Evelyn moved out to Blind Bay. As a young man Gordon played baseball and lacrosse. His love of healthy living continued throughout his life and he continued to enjoy long bike rides, cross country skiing and long walks or hikes until the end. Always a kind, caring, helpful man, he was active in Grande Prairie with the Anglican Church, Kinsmen and Masons. In Salmon Arm he was active in the Anglican Church, Rotary, and recently with the Probus club. Gordon is survived by his loving wife of 58 years Evelyn Patricia Lee, his daughter Maureen Lee, son Fraser Lee, daughter-in-law Mary Macaulay, sisters Betty Fernyhough and Barb Smart-LeWarne (Greg), sister-in-law Marg Lee-Shold, grandchildren, Kieran and Maya Airey-Lee, Heather and Karver Smith, aunt Doris Blair and many nieces, nephews and cousins . He was predeceased by his brother John (Jack) Lee, brothers-in-law Fred Fernyhough and Robert Smart, and with deep sadness his first son James Gordon Lee. Gordon will always be remembered for his smile, kindness, generosity and humor. There will be a celebration of life this summer.
