Gordon Stanford Scafe passed away January 10, 2008 at Bastion Place with family by his side.

Gordon was born on July 21, 1926 at Salmon Arm, BC and lived the majority of his life in White Lake, Balmoral and the Shuswap with a few years in Kamloops and Vancouver.

He was the son of a pioneer family that homesteaded in White Lake. Gordon was a strong, hard-working man and his life’s journey took him through a variety of occupations. He was a member of the Pacific Coast Militia Rangers in the early 1940’s, he enlisted in the Army but did not go overseas, he worked in the logging industry, for the Trans Mountain Pipe Line in Kamloops, as a Brakeman for the C.P.R. on the Kamloops-North Bend run, for the Provincial Highways, Federated Co-op, on a suppression crew for the BC Forest Service and he drove a variety of trucks on road construction throughout Central BC. He retired from the BC Forest Nursery in Skimikin in 1988 after 15 years of service.

Gordon’s joy was going for those “Sunday drives” (7 days a week!). His passion was fishing and hiking in the outdoors and his foundation was his family. He lived for family times, was deeply caring and concerned for his loved ones and being a good provider was very important to him. His beautiful smile, love, strength and wisdom will be among our cherished memories.

Gordon will be lovingly remembered and missed by his wife Doris of 54 plus years, sister Vera Brown, children Robert Scafe, Cathy (Dan) McCauley, Cindy (Craig) Fleischhacker, Gordon (Barb) Scafe, Val (Fred) Nakashima, Barry Scafe, and his eleven grandchildren; Kyle and Dustin Scafe, Colin & Todd McCauley, Carleigh and Cohl Fleischhacker, Leah, Conor and Brady Scafe, Ryland Nakashima, Wyatt Scafe, niece and nephews and his faithful companion Tuffy.

He was predeceased by his parents Archie & Viola Scafe and sister Helen Saunders. Gordon will be sadly missed by all who knew him. No formal funeral service as per request.
