July 9, 1954 - July 17, 2024

In loving memory ~

Gregory Allan Wiebe was born in Maple Creek Saskatchewan, on July 9, 1954 .

Sadly, Greg had passed away on July 17, 2024 in Salmon Arm BC.

He was a very kind and generous person with a big heart , and filled his life with a love for family and friends, and had deep faith.

As a young person, he attended Cubs and Scouts ( as a leader).

He then attended schools in both Maple Creek and Swift Current where he graduated in 1972, then later studied at the University of Calgary .

He later moved to the Brooks Alberta area where he worked in the pipeline industry as an Industrial Radiographer for Allwest Xray , throughout the prairies. During his work there he was given the nickname of EverSmile !

He moved permanently to Grindrod BC in the early 1990's and became involved in organic farming, mainly growing cucumbers and Echinacea.

He was active in his local Mara Community Church , as well as a member of a number of groups including the Okanagan Historical Society, and the Shuswap Naturalists club.

He had a great quest for knowledge, and his hobbies and interests included reading, collecting, bird watching, an old car, gold panning (with cousin Dave), economics, travelling, kayaking, watching classic movies, to name a few.

He loved to explore and learn , and almost every year during the winter (without fail,) he would drive his large truck and camper to Mexico (Baja) and camp at a different site every night ( the roads less travelled) , before returning home in the spring. He also enjoyed visiting the Cypress Hills and Saskatchewan Landing Provincial Park .

He also enjoyed attending and volunteering at the Salmon Arm Blues Festival, as well as visiting many hot springs in western North America.

After retiring, Greg enjoyed relaxing at his beautiful river front property on the Shuswap River, enjoying nature, and the company of good friends and neighbors who he cared for very much, as did they for him.

He is survived by his sister Carol Klemke (Edmonton). He was predeceased by his parents Jack and Grace Wiebe (Swift Current), sister Marjorie, and brother Jerome.

Greg touched the lives of many and cared deeply for everyone.

He will be greatly missed by family and friends.

A graveside service for family and friends will take place Sept 11, 2024 at 10:30 am at the Grindrod Cemetery followed by an informal Celebration of Life at the Grindrod Hall at 11:30 am.

Please bring finger foods to share ( Greg loved to eat!) and a lawn chair, if you wish to sit outside.

There will be an open mic for stories of Greg, his travels and involvement in many local groups.
