On April 27th, 2011 at age 76 Gwen passed away peacefully at home with family at her side. We feel she is at a nice big library surrounded by sunshine and a never ending pot of coffee.
Born December 16th, 1934 in Fort William, Ontario to Hilda and William McLeod. They moved out to British Columbia when Gwen was 16 living in various communities in the Kootenays where Gwen met and married Leslie Sherwood.
After moving to Salmon Arm, Gwen worked at the Salmon Arm and District Airport for 23 years. A job that she loved. Fueling planes and planning the annual air affair until her retirement, at which time she volunteered for numerous other organizations.
Gwen was predeceased by her parents Hilda and William, brothers Ian and Richard, daughters Sharon and Amy and stepson Asher.
She leaves behind to miss her, her husband Leslie and children Wanda (Greg) Seidler, Bill (Laura) Sherwood, Sandra (Barry) Derksen, Glenn (Marlee) Sherwood, Brett (Christine) Sherwood and Pat Sherwood. Surviving brother Norman and sisters Wanda, Wilma and Fern, ten grandchildren, Aaron, Pat, Leona, Jarrett, Christopher, Curtis, Ryan, Brian, Kaitlyn and Alex, ten great grandchildren plus two on the way.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the charity of ones choice. A celebration of Gwen’s life will be held Saturday, May 21st, 2011 from 11:00 – 4:00 p.m. at 111 2nd Street SE, Salmon Arm.
