Swanee passed away peacefully in his 103rd year after living in Tappen, B. C. since 1976, and at the Sakura-So in Burnaby since 2000 with his wife Fusako, of 67+ years. Swanee was born in   B.C. and relocated to the work camps in the east during the war, then moved to Hamilton, Ontario where he worked for International Harvester until his retirement in 1972.  Although the oldest of 7 siblings he was the last living member of his family.  He was predeceased by his older daughter, June (Bill) Hatanaka, in 1997, and survived by grandchildren Dawn (Andrew), Keiko, Mariko, and Derek (Ainsley), Kaeda, Kai, and Dyan. Survived by his wife Fusako and his daughter Doreen (Bob) Friesen of Fort St. James and grandchildren Michael (Varenka), Brenda (Kevin) and Steven (Riane). His captivating smile will be missed by his many nieces and nephews in the east and west, with a special thanks to those out west. Swanee’s love of the outdoors was evident throughout his life with his pursuit of gardening and fishing.
