February 26, 1931 - March 29, 2019
While Hal was in palliative care at Bastion, a young care worker came in to see him. She smiled at an elderly, old man coming to the end of his journey.

I looked at him and saw a young teenager in Winnipeg, shoveling snow off the Assiniboine River. He and his friends cleaned it so they could speed skate on the track they made.

I saw a hard working, newly married man driving the long lonely roads of Manitoba selling Carnation Milk coming home late Friday night, too tired to play with his son Kelly.

I saw a man sailing on English Bay with his new wife Glenda, face to the sun and wind at his back.

Later moving to Salmon Arm to retire and make new friends, be they young children or grown men and women. Always his love of music could be heard playing at home with friends and family.

Yes, young people see an old man but for me the wrinkles, brown spots and the slowing of movement were just signs of a life well lived.

I see you everyday and always will my love.

Forever Young
