Halder Stuart Honeyman (Stu) passed away at age 92 on Aug 27 in Salmon Arm BC. He was predeceased by his wife Daina, brother Bill, brother-in-law Milton, and friend Jack. He is survived and profoundly missed by his daughters Kristine and Laura (Sean), granddaughters Frances (Amir) and Patricia, sister Mary, brothers Jim (Gloria) and John, and sister-in-law Ausma, and cousins, nieces and nephews.

Stuart was a good son and brother, loving and beloved husband, father, and grandfather, trusted and admired cousin, uncle, friend and colleague.

Stuart was born in Sherbrooke Quebec to Howard and Elizabeth Honeyman. He grew up in Montreal and Ottawa, displaying a sense of adventure from an early age. He joined the army in 1943, served overseas and was discharged in 1946. He began his 35 year career with Bell Canada, starting in Montreal and ending in Belleville. In Montreal he met the love of his life Daina and they were married Oct. 22, 1949. Together they made a life for themselves and their family in South Eastern Ontario. Stuart was an avid fisherman and camping enthusiast. His family and friends have many fond memories of Algonquin and Bon Echo adventures with Dad/Stu/Uncle Stu.

Upon retirement Stuart and Daina relocated to the Salmon Arm area in 1989. Stuart took up golfing and wood carving and made many friends in the process. Throughout his life, Stuart was a good citizen, volunteering countless hours to assorted organizations including the Legion, Oddfellows, Red Cross, CNIB, the Lions Club. He had a great sense of humour and an engaging curiosity. Stuart was a gentleman and a romantic, with a tendency to passionately discuss politics. He was kind and the most unselfish person, always thinking of others.

Stuart will be missed by so many: his family, former colleagues, golfing and wood carving buddies, friends old and new, and the staff and residents of Piccadilly Centre.

Thank you to Dr. Glanville for his exceptional care of Stuart and to all who cared for Stuart.
