Gone Fishin!

With broken hearts we said good-bye to Hank Roeters; we regret to announce his sudden passing at the age 57 in Revelstoke , BC on July 22, 2012. Hank was born July 14, 1955 in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. His family immigrated to Kamloops in 1959 later moving to Silver Creek, Salmon Arm and then Sicamous. Left to cherish Hank’s memories are his loving spouse Barbara Birch, daughters: Jennifer (Megan), Rebecca (Jason) and son Oliver (Amanda) Roeters. Mother Corrie, Sister Lia and brothers: Al (Terry), James (Margret), Jack (Linda), John (Shawnde), Brian (Jo-Ann) Roeters. Hank was predeceased by his father Henry and brother Gerry Roeters. Hank leaves behind six grandchildren and one great grandson.

Hank was a dedicated and hard working employee for Poncho Holding’s Revelstoke, Eagle Valley Snowmobile Club/Grooming Society Sicamous , L Turner , Tappen, Gary Collins Logging, Quesnel, Receiver Transport, Revelstoke and owner operator for J.O.B Enterprise, Cambie , BC.

Hank was a “Jack of all trades”. If he couldn’t do it or fix it, you were in big trouble. He had passion for singing and playing the guitar, horses, hunting, gardening and most of all fishing on the Shuswap. Hank was a rough tough man however we would see the tender side playing with their puppy Angel.

Hank wanted people to know he was “Real” and not a “Saint” when he died. His favorite passage was Proverbs 16:9. Times haven’t always been the easiest for his family. It was about sticking together and being there for each other. Being grateful, living in the moment and focusing on what is really important. He was a loving spouse, best father ever and no matter what life brings we were lucky to have his Strength, Wisdom and Love.

A special “Thank you!” to all the people who attended his funeral and all the beautiful flowers and cards received. Also to Bowers Funeral Home and Crematorium for walking us through this difficult time.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Sicamous Bible Church or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Funeral Service was held at the Sicamous Bible Church on July 28, 2012.
