HAZEL MARGARET STODDART (nee Poole)

Our loving mother Hazel Margaret Stoddart (nee Poole) passed away at Bastion Place on January 29, 2012 at the age of 92. She was born in Vancouver October 19, 1919, where she spent her life until moving to the Shuswap in 2005.

She is survived by her 3 daughters, Helen J. Stoddart, Leslie M. Stoddart, Joanne E. Jarvis (nee Stoddart), Graeme Jarvis, two grandchildren Julie K. Wong (nee Jarvis), Glenn C. Jarvis, and 4 great grandchildren.

Hazel was married to David G. Stoddart for 61 years before he passed away in 2002. The fact that she was 4 ft. 11 in. tall and wore a size 5 shoe while David was 6 ft. tall and wore size 13 shoes quickly earned her the nickname “Tiny”.

Our mother loved the outdoors and the many “Snowbird” years of travelling South in their trailer. She taught her love of gardening to her daughters who have grandly carried on the tradition. She always had pets around her, especially cats. While living in Surrey she volunteered at the SPCA where she gave comfort to the homeless animals.

She will be remembered for her love of music, baking, flowers, special laughter and having a cheerful disposition.

As per her wishes there will no service but if you would like to make a donation in her name to the Shuswap SPCA it would be appreciated.
