Helen Christina Boyes (nee Johnson) passed away after a long illness on June 19, 2018, at the age of 87.

Helen was the great- granddaughter of Mara Pioneers, Henry and Frances Johnson, Robert and Minnie Coell, and William and Julia Cadden. She was predeceased by her parents, Harry and Kathleen Johnson, and sister, Reta Marthaller.

After attending Mara School and A. L. Fortune High School in Enderby, Helen was employed by Trimbles Grocery in Enderby. She spent many years in Prince George, working for Singer Sewing Machines, and for a Finance Company, and at one time had a Mobile Hairdressing Business for shut-ins and disabled people.

She married Edwin (Mickey) Boyes in 1955. After retiring from Canada Post, she returned to Mara to be closer to her aging mother. In her later years, health issues made it more convenient for her to live in Vernon, eventually moving to Pleasant Valley Manor in Armstrong, where she spent her final years.

Helen will be remembered for her friendship and sunny disposition.

She was a skilled craftsperson and seamstress. She leaves to mourn her passing, her niece Lola Lewis (Kevin) of Kelowna, and many loving relatives and friends.

A Service of Remembrance will be held later in the summer. The family would like to thank Pleasant Valley Manor for the care and compassion shown to Helen while she was a resident there. Cremation with interment in Mara Community Cemetery.
