Helen Loretta Beemish was born to Cecil and Barbara Fisher on July 28, 1925 in Armstrong, BC. She spent her childhood in Shuswap Falls. Her caring nature drew her to a career in nursing and in 1947 she graduated from the Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops as a Registered Nurse.

On May 7, 1949, Helen married Sam Beemish and thus began their family of six children: Barb (David) Ferguson, Elaine (Moe) Chalifoux, Bruce (Janice) Beemish, Erin (Dave) Myers, Norine (Jeff) Allen and Nancy (Brian) Spielman. Helen and Sam also had many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Helen was a remarkable woman, living out her faith in many ways. She spent countless hours serving people within her own Church Family, Second Harvest, Women’s Shelter, Pioneer Lodge, Hillside Village and the Haney Heritage Park.

On November 21, 2007, Helen went home to be with her Lord. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Sam and her son-in-law Will. Although Helen will be greatly missed by her family and all that knew her, we rejoice in her going home. Donations will be gratefully accepted in Helen’s memory to Second Harvest or the Women’s Shelter in Salmon Arm.

A Funeral Service was held on November 26, 2007 at the Evangelical Free Church in Salmon Arm. Arrangements in the care of Personal Alternative Funeral Services, Armstrong, 546-7237.
