Henry Van Ommen passed away at his home in Silver Creek on August 4, 2010. Henry was born in Wezep, Holland June 8, 1932.

He married Jane on July 3, 1952. Henry and Jane with their newborn daughter Mary immigrated to Canada in May of 1953. As they made their life together in Canada, he worked as a farm hand or truck driver. They have five children – Mary (Robin), Marjorie (Al), Herman (Barbara), John (Carol) and Judy (Roger). In addition they have 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Henry is survived by his wife, Jane and in Holland, an elderly aunt, two brothers and two sisters and their families. He was predeceased by one grandson.

He loved to garden and read. He was strongly attached to his property and will be buried at Silver Creek Cemetery, on a knoll overlooking his home.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Heunis for his compassionate care of both Jane and Henry.

A funeral service for Henry was held on Tuesday August 10, 2010 at 11:00 am from the Crossroads Free Methodist Church, Salmon Arm with Reverend George Fleming presiding. An interment followed at Silver Creek Cemetery.
