Herb de Vos passed into the arms of his Saviour at his home, with his family by his side, on Saturday, March 7, 2009 at the age of 55 years, after a brief battle with cancer.

Herb was born in Abbotsford, BC on September 10, 1953. He had resided and farmed in Deep Creek since the spring of 1969.

He loved spending time with his family and friends and was often involved in church events and helping those in need.

Herb will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 35 years, Rommie; sons, Kevin (Joy) of Enderby and Curtis of Vernon; daughters, Sharon (Wayne) Hansma of Enderby, Natalie (Devon) Smith of Enderby and Erica (Scott) Riedstra of Victoria; eight grandchildren, Stefan, Dominique, Nadia, Darrah, Kaelen, Sabrina, Nathan and Jared. Also surviving are brothers, Joe (Judy) Smoes of Vernon, Frans de Vos of Holland, John de Vos of Edmonton; sisters, Lena (Fred) Simonsen of Kamloops, Jane (Lou) Pugh of Dawson Creek, Elly (Jan) Poort of Holland and Marie (Dan) VanDalfsen of Enderby.

The funeral service was held at The Gathering Place on Friday, March 13th at 11:00 am, with Pastor Peter Stellingwerff and Pastor Ron VandenBrink officiating. Interment followed in Mount Ida Cemetery, Salmon Arm.
