It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ian Jules Callens of Mara, BC on January 11, 2018 after a valiant battle with pancreatic cancer.
Predeceased by his parents Jules and Madge and brother Larry, he is survived by his wife Marg and children Kelly (Adriana) and Kathy (Lance).
The proud grandfather of Eline, Arie, Ian, Kassidy and Kayla, he is also survived by his sister Jeanne (Rick) Garner and sister-in-law Alice (Larry) Callens as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A 35 year veteran of the RCMP, Ian served in many posts in both Saskatchewan and BC retiring as a Staff Sergeant before returning to Mara to farm with his brother. A strong community supporter, he will be sorely missed by family and friends alike.
A special thank you to Dr. Skubiak, Dr. Main and Dr. Clark and all the wonderful caring staff at the Salmon Arm Oncology clinic.
A casual get together to celebrate Ian's life will be held in the Mara Community Hall on Saturday, May 5, 2018 at 2 pm. Casual / Western wear, please.
