In loving memory ~
It is with great sadness that we share the passing of our beloved Opa, James (Jim) Miller, on May 6th at the age of 79. Jim had bravely and quietly battled both cancer and a host of lung diseases for several years, while remaining funny, feisty, positive, and full of love.
Jim was born in 1944 in Vancouver, and raised by his German parents, fun-loving Eva and hardworking George. He grew up alongside his beloved sisters, Sharon and Linda. Jim is remembered as a talented builder whose legacy is seen not only in the top-notch structures he leaves, but also in the many tradespeople he taught and inspired over the years. His most proud legacy lies in the family he doted on, who will miss him dearly: his wife Shirley, daughters Rosa, Shannon (Takao), and Janna (Chris), and son Brad (Karen); as well as his grandchildren Makyla, Christopher, Taizo, Zyan, Ayana, and Kazius.
Jim cherished both of his "hometowns" - Vancouver and Salmon Arm - and he loved to explore new places around the world. He could be seen volunteering anywhere from the Rotary Club to the kindergarten classroom, and he always had a cup of coffee or a drink waiting to share, as well as a pocket full of treats for any dogs he might meet.
Jim loved music, animals, the outdoors, and putting in a good day's work to improve the world around him.
A celebration of life will be held for Jim at Bowers' Funeral Home in Salmon Arm on August 3rd, at 11:00am.
