Jane Van Ommen passed away suddenly on February 12, 2011.  Jane was born in Wezep, Holland March 31, 1933.  She was predeceased by her husband Henry last August.

They married on July 3, 1952.  Jane and Henry, with their newborn daughter Mary, immigrated to Canada in May of 1953.  They have five children – Mary (Robin), Marjorie (Al), Herman (Barbara), John (Carol) and Judy (Roger).  In addition they had 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.  

Jane is survived by three brothers and three sisters as well as their families in Holland.  She was predeceased by one grandson.  

In addition to taking care of the family, Jane worked in various restaurants and coffee shops in Salmon Arm since the 1960’s. She is the Jane of “Jane’s Place”, a restaurant that she founded and ran successfully until 1996.

She loved to be with people; visiting, playing games, or working side by side with others.  She was devoted to her husband and will be buried beside him at Silver Creek Cemetery, on a knoll overlooking their home.  

The family wishes to thank Dr. Heunis for his compassionate care of both Jane and Henry.  

A Funeral Service for Jane will be held from the Crossroads Free Methodist Church, Salmon Arm, Saturday February 19, 2011 at 11:00 am. Pastor George Fleming officiating.
