September 7, 2010

MASON-JEANweb

On Tuesday, September 7th, at age 85, Jean slipped away quietly at Shuswap Lake General Hospital, Salmon Arm, B.C. and joined her husband Bruce (predeceased in 1996) in heaven. Born in 1925 in Southampton, Jean grew up and received her education in England. She lived through the war years in the embattled port city and moved to Canada in 1948. The vivacious Jean Stewart met Oakley Bruce Mason and was immediately smitten by the dashing young Canadian lad. They were married and settled in North Vancouver where son Stewart was born followed by daughters Marilyn and Suzan. The family then moved to Coquitlam where son Byron was born and the family was raised. In 2001, Jean followed her daughter Suzan (Jerry) to Salmon Arm where son Stewart (Lynda) and family had been living for years.

Jean is survived by her brother Bill (Delores), sons Stewart Mason (Lynda), Byron Mason (Melanie), daughters Marilyn Munsie (Ray) and Suzan Litke (Jerry). Also left to mourn their Grandmother are: Ian, Craig, Mike (Erin) Munsie, Nicole (son Chase) and Kimberley (fiancé Marty) Mason of Salmon Arm, and Andrea and Emily Mason in Abbotsford.

The family would like to thank the Shuswap Lake General Hospital staff, all of Jean’s caregivers at Hillside Village & Fischer’s Funeral Services.
