It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother on July 13, 2016 in Salmon Arm, B.C. at the age of 86, after a short illness.

Jean was born in Detroit, Michigan on May 12, 1930. She grew up in Surrey, B.C. where she met and married Les McKenzie, who predeceased her in April 2009, after 58 years of marriage. She was also pre-deceased by her sister, Marion Burroughs, sister-in-law, Bea Gerlitz, brothers-in-law John (Jack) Burroughs and Henry Gerlitz, and nephew, Don Burroughs,

Jean is survived by her daughters, Lynn McKenzie of Salmon Arm, Donna (Keith) Miller of Salmon Arm, Grandchildren: Leslie Miller of Langley, B.C. and Rebecca Miller of Salmon Arm, Great Grandson: Avi Cohen of Enderby, B.C. and nieces and nephews on Vancouver Island.

In 1965, Jean and Les moved their family to Salmon Arm with the opening of the Plywood Plant in Canoe. Over the years, she enjoyed bowling, curling, fishing in the lakes and ocean, gardening, her many crafts and especially her two cats.

Special Thanks go out to Dr. Malinowski and Dr. Dyer for the wonderful care and support we received, as well as to the nursing and support staff at the Shuswap Lake General Hospital and Good Samaritan Hillside Village, in Salmon Arm.

At Jean’s request, there will be no service. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Jean’s memory to the Shuswap Branch of the S.P.C.A. in Salmon Arm.
