James Ernest Goldthorp of White Rock, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Wednesday, August 28, 2019, at the age of85 years.
Biography: Jim was the oldest child of Norman and Effi e Goldthorp's two children. Jim was a gifted artist, horticulturist, and farmer. He was beautifully skilled in painting with oils, a lover of birds, gardening, model railroading and woodworking.
Jim is survived by two of his three children; Norman and Mary Goldthorp. He was predeceased by his youngest son Jamie. Jim is also survived by his grandchildren: Ashton, Colton, Joshua and Emma as well as his wife - Janet Goldthorp and his brother Bev.
Jim was born in Huntsville, Ontario and grew up in the area. He graduated from Guelph University with a specialty in husbandry and soon became the owner of two successful working farms.
Jim loved all things outdoors: camping, painting, fishing, and exploring. He was enormously fond of the Muskoka region and spent many days there in the exploration of its wonder and beauty. Eventually he retired in the Salmon Arm/Enderby region where he refocussed on his love of art and honed his skills as both a master painter, model railroader and of course a massive garden of thousands of tulips. In 2016 Jim moved to White Rock to be closer to his family. Jim passed away at his home in White Rock, surrounded by family, on August 28th, 2019.
We miss him already.
A church service and reception will be held at 1:00 pm at the Shuswap Community Church (3151 6 AVE NE, Salmon Arm) on Saturday, October 5, 2019. Sandwiches, baked goodies, and refreshments to be served after the service until approximately 3:30 pm. Please come and join our family in remembering Jim.
