It is with deeply felt sorrow that we announce the unexpected passing of Joan Adella Ferguson after a brief illness on October 8, 2007. Joan was born on October 24, 1928 in Yorkton, Saskatchewan to Frank and Julia Wilson

After the early passing of her father, Joan and her mother moved to Vancouver, BC. A brilliant woman, Joan graduated from UBC with a degree in Pharmacy at a time when it was challenging for a woman to achiever such. It was at UBC, while involved with the University’s theatre program, that Joan met her future husband, Charles William (Bill) Ferguson. They married in 1952 and had two daughters.

After a long stint in Revelstoke, Bill and Joan settled in Salmon Arm in 1977. Joan loved theatre, gardening, animals, games, travel, reading and laughter. Most of all she loved her family.

Joan was an artistic and imaginative mother who filled her children’s lives with wonderment and awe. Each holiday and social occasion was made so much more by her. It seemed fitting that Joan left us peacefully on Thanksgiving Day, surrounded by her beloved family.

Joan is survived by her husband Bill, Her children Elizabeth (Bryan) Worrall, Deirdre Ferguson, and honorary daughter Jeanette Clement. A special gathering was held October 11, 2007.

The family of Joan Ferguson would like to thank their friends, the many Members of the Masonic Lodge, the wonderful staff of Oakside Manor, and the staff of Shuswap Lake General Hospital for their kindness.

If so desired, contributions may be made in Joan’s memory to the Shuswap Branch of the SPCA, 5850 Auto Rd, V1E 2X2, Salmon Arm.

Arrangements were made in care of

Fischer’s Funeral Service, Salmon Arm.
