In loving memory ~

With deep sorrow, we announce the unexpected passing of Joan Bailey (née Holding), who passed away peacefully on February 25, 2025, at the age of 80 in Salmon Arm, BC, surrounded by many of her loving family. Joan was born on May 2, 1944, in Salford, Manchester, England. She was the cherished wife of Peter Bailey, with whom she shared a lifelong love and partnership since their marriage in 1963. Peter was not only her beloved husband but also her best friend, and together they built a beautiful life filled with love and shared joy.

Joan is survived by her devoted husband, Peter, and their loving family, including their children: Stephen Bailey (Sandi), Alison Halarewich (Grant), and Susan Crnko (Joe). She also leaves behind her sister Iris Lescure (David), her sister-in-law Joan Parris and brother-in-law Frank Bailey. She was a proud grandmother to Janelle (Patrick), Tyler, Michael, Cole, Travis (Amy), Mathew, and Alexis, as well as a doting great-grandmother to little Maud. She will also be dearly missed by her nieces, nephews, and extended family, all of whom will forever hold her in their hearts.

Joan had many passions that brought joy to those around her. She was an avid gardener, a birdwatcher, and a talented artist, creating beautiful paintings that reflected her love of nature and beauty. Joan was also known for her amazing culinary skills, preparing delicious meals without ever using a recipe—a talent that was admired by all who were lucky enough to share a meal with her.

Above all, Joan was a loving mother and a devoted wife. Her warmth, kindness, razor-sharp wit, and unwavering support will be remembered by all who knew her. Joan often said, "The work will still be there when you are gone," a sentiment that spoke to her deep love for family and her understanding of the importance of time spent together.

A special thank you to Drs. Cody Thomson, Kevin Goldberg, and all the nurses who cared for Joan and are still caring for Peter. There are no words to express our family's gratitude for the compassion, love, guidance and support that has been and is still being provided to our family by the medical staff at Shuswap Lake General Hospital during this difficult time.

Joan's legacy of love, compassion, and creativity will continue to inspire and be cherished by all who were fortunate enough to know her.

She will forever be remembered

and deeply missed.
