May 5, 1932 - June 19, 2025

A daughter of the Shuswap died on June 19, 2025. Joan Marshall (nee Fraser) is survived by her daughters - Linda Giberson, Tannis Helmcken (Doug), and Pamela Giberson (Rick Davis) - and her brother Bill Fraser (Lee). She also leaves three grandchildren - Andrew, Jane, and Fraser - and four great-grandchildren - Lars, Freja, Elliot, and James. In 2011, Joan was predeceased by her husband of 40 years, Denis Marshall, long-time owner of the Observer.

Born and raised in Salmon Arm, Joan lived and worked as a teacher in various places throughout BC before returning to the Shuswap when she and Denis married in 1971. After a stint of several years living in Victoria and Vancouver, she and Denis returned to their beloved Salmon Arm in 1993, where they happily lived their remaining years skiing, golfing, summering at the family cabin at Armstrong Point, and spending time with their large circle of friends.

A private family celebration of Joan's life will be held this summer.

If you would like to make a donation in Joan's memory, her favourite charities included causes for nature conservancy and animal welfare. Online condolences can be sent through Joan's obituary at www.bowersfuneralservice.com
