Joseph Austin (Joe) Wood passed away in Shuswap Lake General Hospital, Salmon Arm, BC on January 3, 2011 at the age of 71 years.
A celebration of life service was held from Grandma and Grandpa’s Restaurant in Sicamous on Saturday afternoon, January 8th at 2 p.m. with Jack Bowers the funeral celebrant. The eulogy was given by long time friend, Shirley Gross. A reception followed giving time for family and friends to continue sharing memories of Joe.
Born in Toronto, Ontario on March 16, 1939, Joe worked and traveled all of North America, including Alaska, as a Semi Truck Driver. He is well remembered for his friendly manner, taking time for coffee chat with his many friends, and love for his boxer lab dog, Jimmy. He resided for some 3 years at Craigellachie, moved to Alberta for a year, returning recently to Sicamous, having formerly lived in Salmon Arm in the 1980’s.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Patricia. Joe leaves his loving and caring wife, Tina of Sicamous; his children, Serenda (Grant) with children, Emma and Noah; Monica with children Tyson, Jack, Eliza; Jary with son Anthony; Carey and daughter Olivia; Mark and Joseph.
Funeral arrangements with cremation were in the care of Bowers Funeral Home and Crematorium, Salmon Arm.
