John Lindsay passed away on October 21, 2011 at Bastion Place at the age of 92 years. John was born in 1919 at the original Salmon Arm hospital. He is survived by his loving wife Rose, his daughters; Barbara (John), Patricia (Louis), grandchildren; Richard, Tara, John, James, Lisa and great-grandchildren; Sierra and Ty.

John was part of a pioneering family settled on a homestead in Blind Bay. He was the first born son of seven children. He is predeceased by his brothers; Alexander (Sandy), Walter, Graham, and Sister Helen. A veteran of the Second World War, John served four years before being wounded. He subsequently bought a Quarter Section in Sorrento where he raised sheep and cattle. John met his beloved wife of 60 years while horse logging in Scotch Creek and she was cooking in the logging camp. He worked for many years at the Adams Lake sawmill while continuing his passion for farming. John loved to take his daughters Barb and Pat to the local gymkhanas and rodeos. Upon retirement, John enjoyed visiting his children in Edmonton and Fort St James, where he took pleasure sightseeing, hunting, and fall fairs. He never tired of talking about ranching. John is remembered as a sweet and gentle man, with an infectious sense of humour which all his family and friends enjoyed. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

A Service in memory of John will be held at Bower’s Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday October 29th at 2:30 pm with a reception to follow.
