John, aged 72 years , passed into the arms of his loving Saviour and Lord on Saturday May 31st 2008 with his family at his bedside, at Bastian Place Palliative Care, where he had wonderful, caring staff. He is now at peace and out of all suffering after 12 years of illness that he patiently bore. John was born and raised in Reading, Berkshire, England. Although John was an electronics engineer he was a “Jack of all trades” and loved to help people. He also was a computer buff and was able to use his knowledge in that area in Christian organizations he was ministering with.
He had a keen interest in aircraft and enjoyed making, flying and crashing model planes! He was a very organized person and also enjoyed classical music.
In 1968, together with his wife, Sheila, he made a life altering decision. Then in 1970 he, with his family, emigrated to Canada to work for a computer Company and ended up going into full time Christian ministry, serving in different capacities that meant he was travelling quite extensively in Canada and Europe.
In 1996 when John first became sick he had to take early retirement and moved to British Columbia. Having started off in Quebec, he has lived in every Province except the Maritimes.
John will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Sheila, of 50 years, children, Ian and Chris Ward of Kelowna and Adrian and Sara Ward of Calgary, grandchildren Angela, David and James of Kelowna and Kate, Connor and Grace of Calgary. Also the many, many friends who’s lives he had touched.
An internment of John’s remains and Celebration of life service was held at St. Mary’s Church in Sorrento on 4th June 2008. With Pastor Myron Crown officiating.
