November 21, 1983 - February 18, 2020
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jordan Lee Fields on February 18, 2020 in Yarrow BC. He was born November 22, 1983 in Salmon Arm BC to Ross and Cheryl (Worobey) Fields. The youngest of three sons, he lived and went to school in Salmon Arm, graduating from SASS in 2002.
His early years were spent on a hobby farm learning about raising animals and vegetables and the chores and joys that are part of this life style. This set a mold for a character of commitment of excellence to whatever work he did. He loved to work hard and look back on a job well done, whether volunteering, building "the pit" with his friends, or in his work as an icemaker and Zamboni driver, roofer, or equipment operator. He was able to see the needs of others and willingly gave a helping hand adding humor or kind words.
Jordan was born with broad shoulder and developed this strength. Swimming, break- dancing, Brazilian Jujitsu, boxing, running, and working out formed an amazing and powerful physique. His dad, Ross, called him the "Sherpa" when moose hunting for his ability to carry a much heavier load as we packed out. Local farmers greeted him with warm welcome for he was ready to toss bales, chop wood or move anything heavy as they chatted and joked.
He loved his family and friends, and children warmed to his embrace. This showed in how he played with his nephews Connor and Adam. He earned the tag "Uncle Jungle- Gym" from them. These three played to exhaustion then laughter would take over. Excite-o-Ball was one of the games they invented adding rules with each new episode.
Jordan had a genuine and thoughtful faith in Jesus. As a part of the Teen Challenge community over the past two years, he studied the Bible and theology diligently and became particularly focused on sharing Jesus' love with others in very practical ways, especially those who are most hurting. He loved to serve those who were street affected with the ministries of the Portal and Ruth and Naomi's on most weekends.
Jordan is survived by his mother, Cheryl Fields, stepfather, Paul Odland, his brother David, sister in law, Kathryn, and his nephews Connor and Adam Fields.
"I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone believing in me will live, even after dying."
- Jesus (John 11:25)
