Our beloved mother passed, on May 16 2016 in the Maple Ridge General Hospital. Joyce was born June 9, 1927 in Vancouver, BC. She was predeceased by her husband William (Bill), in 2009 and brother Barry. She is survived by her sister Pat, sons Russell (Linda), Adam (Deborah) and Victor (Sheri) and grandchildren Jonathan, Josef, Jordan, Sophie, Cairo and Fynn as well as several nieces and nephews.

After graduating from Lord Bing High School, Joy attended a secretarial college and worked in a variety of administrative capacities for life insurance companies. By chance she met her future husband Bill, when his sister’s mail was delivered to the wrong (or right) Joy Hamilton who was living in the same apartment building. Joy and Bill raised their family in Vancouver, Victoria, and Delta where she relished her time as a mother and watching her family grow. Joy will be remembered fondly as the “mom” to family members during summers and in times of need.

Their retirement years in Penticton were filled with card games, walks and much travel, as Joy was always eager to visit the next destination. Highlights were trips to England, the Caribbean and Hawaii. Joy will be remembered for her clever wit, grace, kind nature and deep devotion to her family.

There will be a celebration of Joy’s life on June 4, 2016 at 11:00 a.m., at the United Church, Salmon Arm.
