June 7, 1928 - March 7, 2025
Juanita June Moore, beloved wife, mother, teacher, and friend, passed away peacefully in her sleep on March 7, 2025, at the age of 96.
Born on June 7, 1928, Juanita grew up with a love for learning and compassion for others. She met the love of her life, Ted Moore, at a Valentine's Day dance in Carmangay, Alberta. At the time, Juanita was a dedicated teacher, and fittingly, Ted had helped build the very school where she taught. Their love story blossomed, leading to a lifetime of partnership and shared joy.
In 1961, Juanita and Ted settled in Sicamous, British Columbia, where they raised their four children: Wendy, David, Patricia, and Jeff. Juanita's dedication to her family was unwavering, and she found great fulfillment in nurturing her children with kindness and wisdom.
As an educator, Juanita left a lasting impact on her students. Former pupils fondly recall her as "the perfect grade 1-2 teacher", admiring her grace, beauty, and kindness. One student, Cheryl, was so inspired by Miss Bakke that she became a teacher herself.
In her later years, Juanita often asked if she had been a "good mother". Her children's heartfelt response was always the same: "You were a great mother." Her love and guidance remain a cherished legacy.
Juanita's warmth, elegance, and dedication to her family and community will be dearly missed.
