Judith Kalinczuk

Judith Louise Kalinczuk, 67, passed away June 25th 2016 in her own home surrounded by family and friends after a brave fight against cancer. Judith was born in Edmonton, Alberta on November 17, 1948 and moved to Armstrong B.C. with her family in 1966, where she graduated from high school in 1967. In her younger years Judith had a great love of horses and excelled in sports such as basketball, softball and shot-put. In her adult years she was an enthusiastic leader in the Girl Guide movement and her TOPS group and continued to enjoy softball, golf, going to the gym, reading, knitting, walking, travelling and scrap booking. In the last few years she also became a member of a Singles group, Hospital Auxiliary and the Lawn bowling club. In her down time Judith was happy to be socializing with her many friends and family. Judith walked many miles for the relay for life, her last relay was just two weeks before her death, and although she was unable to participate in the walk, she was a great motivator for the rest of us from her lawn chair. Judith was a great cook, and worked as such, for many years to help support her family. She is probably most remembered for her many, many years of service at the Salmon Arm Golf Club.

Judith was pre deceased by her parents Doug and Hendrika Jackson; her sister Edna, Edna’s husband Rick Walsh; and the father of Judith’s children, John Kalinczuk. Judith is survived by her four loving children Jodi, Janice (Curtis), John (Candi) and Jay-Lyn, as well as her grandchildren Kalvin, Kendra, Olivia, Hannah, Abigail, Frankie, Sawyer and many other children who call her Grandma. Also survived by her brother Steve (Shirley), sister Donna (Alan), brother Brian (Donna), sister Jennie, and many cousins, nieces, nephews and close friends. Judith is known by her family and friends for her positive outlook on life and her stoic approach to the hardships she encountered; she faced life like a Champ!

The family would like to thank the many medical professionals who were so instrumental in her treatment, with special thanks to her family doctor and the cancer clinic at SLGH who encouraged her for the last three and a half years.

A memorial service will be held at the Five Corners Pentecostal Church on July 5th, 2016 at 11:00 a.m., with a tea to follow, which is generously being provided by the members of the church.

The family would like to encourage donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, PO Box 3451, Salmon Arm, BC, V1E 4S2, to recognize Judith’s life and her courageous battle against cancer.
