A Celebration in “Julia’s” honour will be held in the Chapel of Bowers Funeral Home on October 15, 2016 at 2 p.m. A social will follow in the Mountainside room at Bowers.

Julia passed away peacefully on August 31, at Mt. Ida Mews at the age of 98.

She was born in Faith, Alberta on July 4, 1918, the second eldest daughter in a family of twelve to Anton and Magdelina Kerner. She married Jack Medhurst in 1940 in Foremost, Alberta and lived there until 1952. Jack, Julia and their two children, (Richard and Janet Gail) moved to Vancouver where they soon added a third child (Chuck) and then moved to a lovely little farm in Cloverdale. They lived in Cloverdale till 1964 when Jack and Julia bought the Armstrong Hotel and moved to Armstrong. Julia’s passion for cooking certainly paid off in the restaurant as people would come from miles around to enjoy one of her home cooked meals. They lived in Armstrong for the next 16 years, but after Jack’s passing in 1982, Julia moved to a summer home in Tappen Bay, Salmon Arm. She spent her winters in Phoenix, Arizona until 2005 then relocated to Piccadilly Terrace in Salmon Arm where she spent the next 8 years. Even in her golden years Julia spent her time organizing the card games and other activities at Piccadilly Terrace. When Julia required more care she moved to Mount Ida Mews where she resided for the past 3 years. Julia continued to learn new things and kept up her card playing skills on the i Pad. She even kept in touch with relatives and friends through Face time on the computer. She had a full life with family, friends and travel and will certainly be remembered for spreading her positive attitude, kindness and friendship.

Julia leaves her loving and dedicated family; Daughter, Janet Gail Rolin of Salmon Arm, sons, Richard (Tiny) Medhurst of Armstrong, Dr. Chuck (Veda) Medhurst of Victoria;

Four Grandchildren, Rick (Shannon) Rolin, Tammy (Andreas) Meerza, Neil Medhurst, Lorraine (Danny) Mazu. Eight Great Grandchildren, Chelsea, Lawson, Brittany, Jarret, Colin, Jordon, Marika, Jayda; Three Great Great Grandchildren, Sienna, Kaden, Lily; She is also survived by her sister Katherine (Al) Davis, brothers, Lawrence (Lucette),
