On Sept. 16, 2008, a bright spark entered the world - Justin ("Bubby") John Christian Brouwer.
Justin was a compassionate boy. He loved life, his family and his friends and was well-loved in return.
He was a creative artist who also loved to be outside on his dirt bike or snowmobile, fishing, tying flies or just helping out.
Curious and bright, Justin was always learning and enjoyed rock-finding adventures. He had once thought he would like to be a geologist but was also interested in astronomy, among the many other things that sparked his curiosity.
His favourite animal was the moose, orange was the colour he loved best and his favourite spot was camping at the cabin with family and friends.
His biggest challenge was a nine-month battle with cancer that he faced with grace and courage. Justin died on the morning of Aug. 3, at home, in the loving arms of his mother, father and sister.
Justin will be lovingly remembered by his father, Jeremy, mother, Kelly, sister, Kaela, his Papa (Larry Burke), Grandma (Barb Brouwer), Great Grandma "Nana" (Marjorie Camponi) and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his Grandma (Dianne Burke) and Opa (Chris Brouwer).
While Justin is no longer present in the physical form, his joyful spirit will remain forever in our hearts.
"Perhaps they are not stars, but rather openings in heaven where the love of our lost ones pours through and shines down upon us to let us know they are happy." Eskimo Proverb.
A Celebration of Life to honour Justin will take place from 2 to 5 pm Friday, August 31 at the Shuswap Lake Estates Community Centre (2405 Centennial Drive, Blind Bay).
