KAREN SOPHIE RASMUSSEN
July 10, 1919 - June 23, 2011
It is with sadness and fond memories that we announce the passing of Karen Sophie Rasmussen on Wednesday, June 22, 2011. She passed away at home with loved ones at her side.
Karen was predeceased by her husband, Karl in 1973, her grandchildren, Angela, Jennifer and Jeffrey in 1984 and her grandson, Jason in 1995. She was also predeceased by all 4 of her siblings.
She is survived by her sons, John (Nellie) of Salmon Arm, Kaj (Kathy) of Langley and her daughter, Hanne (Pat) Fair of Victoria, grandchildren; Kathryn (Chris) Weicker of Salmon Arm, Terri-Lynn (John) Andre of Langley, Jordan and David Fair of Toronto and Victoria, Andrew Rasmussen of Vancouver and great grandchildren; Peter, Timothy, Katrina, Annamarie, Kirsten and Justin Weicker and Zoe Ethan and Emily Andre.
Karen Koch was born in Denmark on July 10, 1919. She married Karl Rasmussen in 1942. They immigrated to Canada in 1956 to join her sister Joan and her family in Salmon Arm.
Karen loved her garden and was accomplished in many kinds of hand work but her real focus was her family. She spoiled us with endless pots of coffee and baked goodies at ever opportunity.
The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 06, 2011 at 2:00 pm from Bowers funeral Home Chapel and interment will follow at Mt. Ida Cemetery. A reception will be held at the home of John and Nellie Rasmussen, 4951, 50th Street NE, Salmon Arm.
