It is with great sadness that the family of Karin Noz announces that their mother/Nana passed from this life on Monday, December 19th, 2016 in Salmon Arm, BC at the age of 75 years. She passed peacefully in her home surrounded by her family. The celebration of her life was held at the Salmon Arm Elk’s Hall on Wednesday December 28, 2016 at 2:00 pm.
Karin was born on September 16, 1941 to Franz and Ursula Protzek in Torgau, Germany.
Karin is survived by her daughters Lori Petryshen (Larry) and Carol Noz and her grand-daughters, Natalie Jobe (Rob), Adelya Crocker, Mackenzie Crocker and Emilie Petryshen. She is also survived by one brother, Ulrich Protzek in Germany.
Karin was predeceased by her parents, brother Rolf Protzek in 2009 and sister Lori Gartner in 2015 and ex-husband Ed Noz who she remained friends with until his passing in 2005.
Karin moved to Canada to get married at the age of 17 to Adolf (Ed) Noz and went on to have two daughters, Lori in 1960 and Carol in 1962. Karin and her family moved to Uranium City in 1965 and resided there until 1981. In 1981 Karin moved to Edmonton to manage a Sears Catalogue Outlet and in 1993 she was transferred to Salmon Arm to manage the local Sears Catalogue Outlet and within a year, both her daughters followed. She semi-retired in 2002 and moved into Country Side Mobile Park where she spent many hours on decorating her home and landscaping her yard. She loved her neighborhood and the many friends that she made in the park for the 13 years she resided there. In 2015 she sold her place to live in an in-law suite with her daughter, Lori and family.
Karin loved to watch her daughters curl every Tuesday night at the local curling club and her daughters and teammates will miss seeing her sitting at the window cheering them on, she was their number one fan. Karin also loved to watch her granddaughters play soccer or ringette and she never missed a game if she could help it. Her grand-daughters were always her top priority. She was also always eager for a game of Canasta or any other card game that surrounded herself with her family and friends. Karin loved to read books, go shopping (loved shopping), going to the movies, garage sales and was the happiest when she was caring for others.
Karin’s family and friends will always cherish the kind, caring, selfless and genuine person that she was. She will forever be missed and loved by all.
The family would like to thank the medical, palliative, home care team and especially all the staff at the Pharmacy in Shoppers Drug Mart, that helped make Karin’s last days at home as comfortable as possible.
