Betty was born Dec.14, 1919 in Petworth, Sussex, England. At the age of 9 she moved to Anglemont with her parents Joseph & Jennie Denton. It was hard to leave scads of cousins, family & city life to become pioneers, but it soon became home. She went to school in Anglemont, was an avid reader and loved living by the Shuswap Lake. On June 25, 1938 she married Ralph Richards. Then with the start of World War II, Ralph joined the Army and Betty joined the Canadian Air Force. After the war they moved to Celista and built their home on Richards Road where Anne, Pat, Jack & Nancy were raised. Later, she moved to Chase where she still lived on her own. Mom loved her Bingo’s, her garden, bowling, her books, wearing jewellery, her cat “Sassy” and enjoyed friends, neighbors and family.

She has always had many life stories to tell and will be remembered and loved always.

Arrangements in care of Schoening Funeral Service. Funeral services will be held from St Davids Church, Celista on Thursday, July 28,2011 at 2 pm with graveside service at Celista cemetery. Tea to follow.
