The family of Kathleen Simpson are saddened by her passing on December 30, 2011 in Salmon Arm at the age of 99.

Kathleen was born on November 25, 1912 in Vancouver, B. C.

She was predeceased by a daughter Maureen in 1960 and her husband of 74 years, George in 2008.

Mum will be missed by daughter, Gail Parkstrom (Ken), son Brian and his family and her loving grandchildren, Lori Tiller( Darcy) Karen Lazar ( Dave) and great grandchildren, Megan, Curtis, Jenna, Tyson, Ryan , Kayla and Cory. She is also survived by her sister- in-law Marion Kellett and her nephew Gordon both of Canim Lake, B. C. In 1929 she was accepted by B.C Telephone Co. to join their huge staff at $2.00 per day which was considered a really good wage. Mum married my Dad in 1933 and together had 3 children. In 1944 they were to make a major turning point in their life by buying a fishing resort at Canim Lake, B. C. where they had many great adventures as it was pretty primitive in those days. The move to Salmon Arm was another adventure in 1960 and she soon got a job with the Village of Salmon Arm where she worked for 12 years. The retirement years took them on many trips around the world on a freighter and in their RV to as many places as they could go. The grandchildren and later the great grandchildren were treated to many fun experiences with their Granny. She could make a walk in the woods with them a big adventure. The great grandchildren loved to hear her tell of her life in the early days and in turn she took great interest in their sports and activities. Hockey became a great interest for her and she followed Curtis’ play with excitement.

We wish to thank the wonderful staff at Pioneer Lodge and Dr. Levins for their compassionate care and the girls at Bastion who made her comfortable on her last night. There will be no funeral at Kathleen’s request.
