Born in Edmonton, Alberta on March 24, 1922, he married Tory Gollan in 1947 and began a long career with developing business opportunities in northern Alberta and British Columbia. In 1963 he moved his family to Salmon Arm to continue his vision in development. He purchased the golf course on Highway 97B, quickly creating beauty by adding a water system and grass greens. He sold the course in 1969 and turned his talent into land development, including such areas as Eagle Bay Estates, the Raven subdivision area, as well several commercial properties that needed upgrades. Hard work was learned at a young age by Ken, this continued into his development work, with Ken being part of the manual labor.
Ken is well remembered for his passion for Golf, baseball, music, and knowledge for healthy food and exercise. He was proud of his wife, children and grandchildren, always available to take part in their various sports events, supporting each with enthusiasm.
He leaves his loving family, wife, Tory, daughters, Donna Nyland, Arlene McLeod (Daryl), Janny Blackburn (Len Lega), and son, Ralf Reid (Debbie); 10 grandchildren; Tonya (Simon), Tasha, Shaun (Genvieve), Kim (Phil), Dachs (Dawna), Lenny (Danniel), Colter (Vanessa), Nyle (Sarah), Levon (Candice), Dawson; 8 great grandchildren; Taegan, Christian, Tarryn, Brisa, Zoe, Paetyn, Callam, Darren; and his sisters, Dorothy, Marie, Betty-Lou (Gord), and brothers, Bill and Denny (Una);
