Kikue Nakazawa

March 14, 1926 – May 17, 2019
It is with deep sadness we say good bye to Kay, devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She leaves behind Tamotsu (Tam) her husband of 69 years, her children Tom, Gayle (Jack), Bonnie, Bobby (Val) and Patty (Trent), 9 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Kay will be remembered for her amazing fruit and vegetable garden, where she grew the tastiest strawberries in Salmon Arm. If she wasn’t in the garden she was walking to town and back with Tam. In her 70’s, when walking up and down Okanagan hill got to be too much for them, they would jump on the bus and head to town to play a little Keno. Kay’s pies were legendary, she loved
playing cards and making sure her grandkids were fed.
Kay had a smile that would light up a room and would make friends where ever she went. You would never leave her home without a full belly and a care package in hand. Family was the most important thing to her. Rest now mom – we love you.
We would like to express our extreme gratitude to Bonnie, for dedicating the last 10 years to caring for mom and allowing her to live out her life at home. Our sincerest appreciation to Dr Weicker, the care givers from Interior Health and the staff at Shuswap Lake General Hospital for their care and kindness in looking after our mother.
A celebration of life service will be held at the chapel of Bowers Funeral Home on Saturday afternoon June 15, 2019 at 1 pm.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
