In Loving Memory ~
The family of Larry Moen are devastated by his sudden passing on October 12, 2024, while vacationing with his wife Carol in Gubbio, Italy.
Larry was born in Edmonton Alberta on November 23, 1939, to Marjory and Clarence Moen and was one of seven children. Larry grew up in Millet, Alberta and attended high school in Wetaskiwin where he met his first wife Pat. The high school sweethearts married in 1960 and had a wonderful life raising 4 children together.
Larry attended the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology after high school, and later worked for NCR in Dawson Creek where he traveled to small communities throughout the Peace Region. In 1974, Larry and Pat took a leap of faith together and relocated their young family to the Shuswap where they ran Eagleview Resort for over 30 years. During that time, Larry also built a successful real estate career, and many of his clients became close friends.
As their working lives began to wind down, Larry and Pat began the RV life, travelling to Mexico and all points in between. Larry established friendships with people from all over the world during their travels and he and Pat loved to host dinner parties and spend time with friends wherever they were. Larry enjoyed spending his winters in Mexico where he immersed himself into the community and was a constant support for fundraising for a local orphanage in Bucerias.
Larry was broken hearted when Pat died suddenly in 2016. Two years later, however, he was introduced to a special woman, Carol Stening, who had also lost her spouse. The following year the two again crossed paths in Mexico. Finding a new love and partner in Carol brought joy back into Larry's life and the two married later that year. Larry and Carol shared a passion for travel and adventure and visited Hawaii, Thailand, Australia, and Italy in addition to their annual winter sojourns to Mexico.
Larry was a loving husband and father with a kind, compassionate heart. He loved meeting and talking with people wherever he went. Although he had a serious side, Larry also liked to poke fun and crack a joke. His stories, love of music, laughter, and big hugs will be missed dearly. Larry never met a Buick he didn't like.
Larry is survived by his wife Carol and his children Lori from Victoria, Kent (Sandra) from Gabriola Island, David (Maureen) from Salmon Arm, and Lisa (Ray) from Nelson as well as his 7 grandchildren (Katie, Brandon, Cameron, Emily, Aaron, Adelina and Jordan) and great grandson Johnathan.
A celebration of life will be held for Larry in the spring.
