It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Lawrence Everett Gustafson. Larry was born near Perdue, Saskatchewan to parents John and Jean Gustafson and passed away at Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops, BC at the age of 78.
Larry will be lovingly remembered by his brothers: Ken Gustafson, Gord(Violet) Gustafson his sisters: Velda Koshman, Greta Holmes & Linda(Jake) Driedger his stepchildren: Ron Raspberry, Sandra Hill, Ken(Gail) Raspberry, Wayne(Barb) Raspberry, Mary Ann Raspberry & Lillian(Tim) Parker and 20 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren & 5 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces & nephews.
Predeceased by his parents: John & Jean Gustafson, wife: Florence Gustafson, stepchildren: Karin Hewitt & Brian Raspberry
On December 17, 1966 Larry married Florence in St. Andrews United Church in Mission, BC and became an instant stepfather to eight children, he was a brave sole, and so began his journey into a large family.
Larry was raised in rural Saskatchewan and was an avid sports fan, especially for the Saskatchewan Rough Riders and acquired many items with their green logo. He spent many hours watching and chatting about his favorite football, hockey, curling or baseball teams. Travelling to watch World Junior hockey, NHL Young Guns and Curling events.
Larry went to work for CPR at a young age as a machine operator and moved from Mission, BC to Golden, BC in 1972 until retiring in 2000 and moving to Salmon Arm, BC., where his home on the Shuswap Lake became the family gathering spot.
He was a kind and generous man with a quick and hearty laugh that will be remembered fondly by his family and friends.
We will miss his phone calls with the inevitable opening question "So what do you know today"................ I guess today we know we will miss him.
