D’ANDREA, LAWRENCE (LARRY)

September 25, 1940 - October 22, 2010

We regretfully announce that Larry passed away peacefully at the age of 70 in Vancouver General Hospital.

Larry was born in Trail, BC to parents Angelo and Amabile who emigrated from Italy with his elder siblings. Larry grew up in Trail and started his working years at Cominco. In 1971 he graduated from BCIT and started work in Courtenay, BC as a public health inspector where he met his wife, Yvonne and entered family life with step children Jennifer and Ross and later son Rudy. In 1988 he and his family moved to Salmon Arm where he continued as a public health inspector until his retirement in 2004.

Larry will forever be remembered as a dedicated family man. When there was not a Canucks game on, he could often be found tinkering on small projects around the house or tending one of the gardens. He also had a love for traveling to Europe with family members, especially in Italy to discover his Italian roots.

He is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife of 30 years, Yvonne D’Andrea, brother Bruno (Karon) D’Andrea and sister Evalina Matovich of Vernon, daughter Jennifer (Daniel) Welsh of Salmon Arm, son Ross Brown of Kelowna, and son Rudy (Yvette) D’Andrea of Surrey, and grandchildren, Nickolas and Oliver.

A celebration of life will be held at the Chapel of Bowers Funeral Home in Salmon Arm on Thursday October 28th at 1 p.m. A reception will follow.

Memorial donations in lieu of flowers are requested to be sent to the BC Cancer Foundation, PO Box 8700 Stn Terminal, Vancouver, BC V6B 9Z9.
