It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Lenny on Saturday, April 30th, 2011 at Bastion Place.

Lenny’s never ending courage, determination and spirit will be missed by her husband Ken, sisters Anna Lund, Ena Rudakas, Betty Unterschultz (Dan), sister in law Dorothy Kavalinas and brothers Vic, Stanley and John Kavalinas (Joyce) along with her many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great great nephew and great great niece and cousins in Lithuania.

Lenny will forever remain in the hearts of Stephen Arthurs (Wendy), Julie Smith (Rod), Jodie Arthurs, Jeffrey Arthurs (Velvet), Scott Arthurs (Sandi), Jennifer Arthurs (Gary), 13 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

Lenny was born in Salmon Arm on September 1, 1944 at the “old” Salmon Arm Hospital. She completed her primary education in Salmon Arm and followed that with Business School in Vernon. Lenny moved to Calgary where she worked for IBM until moving to Ontario where she and Ken opened a Canadian Tire franchise. On her return to Salmon Arm in 1979, Lenny was employed by the Shuswap Lake General Hospital as Executive Secretary to Eugene Casavant a position she held for 12 years. Lenny left to open her own business and follow her passion for fashion with Lenny’s Clothes Closet a successful retail store in downtown Salmon Arm. Lenny sold her business and retired in 1995.

Lenny was instrumental in creating the Daybreak Rotary Club and remains a chartered member. She was very active in the Sunday morning Sunshine Group and mentored many group members over the years. A big supporter of the SPCA, her love of cats was well known and she will be missed by Oscar (at home with Ken).

We wish to thank Dr. James Levins and his Associates, the Nursing Team, Lab and X-ray Technicians, Paramedics, Administrative, Kitchen and Cleaning Staff who provided such excellent care to Lenny. You are all so caring, dedicated and compassionate in your vocations. Thank you all.

A “Gathering” to celebrate Lenny’s life will be held on Saturday, June 18th at 2:00 pm at the Seniors’ Fifth Avenue Activity Centre, 170-5th Avenue SE followed by a reception. Lenny’s childhood friend Pastor George Fleming, Crossroads Free Methodist Church will share his memories and God’s Blessing.

In Lieu of flowers, it was Lenny’s request that donations be made to the BC SPCA Shuswap Branch, Box 883, Salmon Arm, BC, V1E 4N9.
