Lois passed away peacefully May 9, 2011 at Crofton Manor Retirement Residence Vancouver B.C. She was born in Salmon Arm, February 8, 1924 to early settlers John and Sarah MacLeod. Lois was predeceased by her husband Hugh (May 2010), sisters Gladys Butcher, Ann Wood, Evie Paterson, Grace Panzer, and brothers Hugh and Ross MacLeod. She is survived by her sister-in-law Marie Parenteau of New Westminster, many nieces and nephews, and special friends.
After graduating from High School Lois moved to Vancouver and began a career in the business sector eventually operating her own successful hair salon. Lois and Hugh were married in Vancouver July 1950 and were just short of celebrating 60 years together (2010). They both shared a love of gardening and the simple pleasures of life. Their Salmon Arm connection remained very important and special to them all their lives.
A tea in Lois’ memory will be held at 2 p.m. July 16/11 at the residence of Ken and Heather MacLeod, Salmon Arm, B.C. Private burial of cremated ashes will take place at Mt. Ida Cemetery in Salmon Arm.
Lois will always be remembered with special affection by her family and will be deeply missed.
