Lona Ruth Doebert passed away in Bastion Place, Salmon Arm, BC on Sunday, February 14, 2010 at the age of 88 years.

A celebration of life service will be held from the chapel of Bowers Funeral Home, Salmon Arm, on Thursday morning, February 18th at 11 a.m. with Jack Bowers the celebrant. Tributes will be shared by family and friends. A reception will follow in the Mountainside room, allowing time to continue sharing memories.

Cremation with interment to follow later in the family plot at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Sorrento.

Born in Pincher Station, Alberta on May 8, 1921, Ruth was a pioneer of the Blind Bay, Notch Hill and Sorrento areas, having arrived in the early 1930’s. She is well remembered for her love of family, fishing, and was always the life of a party.

Predeceased by her husband, Edward; daughter Darlene; one sister and three brothers; Ruth is survived by her four sons, Bill (Robyn), Ray (Donna), and Don (Leslie) all of Sorrento, and Dale (Zoe) of Shawnagan Lake; 9 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter; one sister, Verna Keeler of Courtney.

Memorial donations in memory of Ruth may be sent to St. Mary’s Church, Sorrento.
