We sadly announce the sudden passing of our dear mother Lottie Goertzen (Grassie) on February 7, 2011 with her family by her side, at the age of 86 years. Lottie was born in Port Moody, BC on April 19, 1924. While working in Brooks, AB she met her husband Abe Goertzen. They were married Nov. 10, 1947 and spent 55 years together until Abe’s passing in 2003. She was also predeceased by her parents Joe and Mary Grassie, her brothers Leonard and Jack Grassie, brother in law George Sundman, her late husband’s two sisters and three brothers and their spouses. She is survived by her daughters Dianne Liebreich and her children and Maureen (Terry) Hudson and their children and grandchildren, her sister Lorraine (Len), as well as many nieces and nephews.

Abe and Lottie lived in various places in BC before settling in Adams Lake, BC where they started raising their girls. In 1965 they moved to Tappen, BC and started their own cleaning business. Cleaning stores and offices in Chase and Salmon Arm until 1990 when they retired. In 1997 they moved to Salmon Arm where they resided until their passing.

Lottie loved to laugh, had a great sense of humor, a loving mother and grandmother who never had harsh words about anyone. She loved music and singing. She was an excellent cook, life won’t be the same without mom’s fabulous “potato salad”. An avid gardener, she loved digging in the dirt, she always said it was therapeutic. Flowers and African violets were her passion.

We love you mom and will always miss you.

Memorial donations in Lottie’s memory may be made to Shuswap Search & Rescue, Heart & Stroke Foundation of BC, or the Canadian Diabetes Association.
