Louise Margareth Day

Louise Margareth Day

Louise Margareth Day of Salmon Arm, B.C. passed away on July 30, 2010, after a lengthy debilitating illness. Louise is survived by her husband of 34 years, Douglas, children; Gerald, David, Richard (Jeanette), Susan Klaiber, Linda (Edward) Spiteri, Diane Varga, Peter (Veronica) Sasges, Shirley Sasges, Jennifer Peters, and Rita Sasges; 21 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren; and brothers Ted (Enid), Wilf, Donny, Norbert, Wally Dircks, and sisters Millie (Don) Lozier, Elaine (Matt) Farkas. Louise is predeceased by brothers Ben and George, and parents Annie (Mueller) and Herman Dircks.

Louise led a fulfilling life. She was born in Anaheim, Saskatchewan and spent her childhood in rural Saskatchewan. As a young adult she moved to British Columbia to work as a nurse in New Westminister before marrying and raising a family in Vernon and Kamloops. A dedicated wife, mother and grandmother, Louise had a love of gardening which was passed on to many of her children and grandchildren. We all cherish fond memories of Mom and Gramma’s garden and all the treasures found there. Later in life Louise and Doug enjoyed their retirement on the Shuswap – providing for many family gatherings throughout every season. They developed a love of traveling, visiting many friends and relatives throughout Canada. Their travels also took them further afield – to the USA, the Caribbean and Europe. A favorite trip in 2003 with sister Millie and husband Don was a cruise down the Rhine River and visit to Switzerland to see Louise’s parents’ birthplace. The experience gave Louise wonderful memories and stories to share in the years after which kept her confined at home.

A special thank-you to the staff of Oakside Manor in Enderby, for their compassionate care as Louise lost the ability to move but always found ways in which to communicate. As forgiveness abounds and you are enfolded in the arms of your Heavenly Father, rest easy and sleep well Mom – your long life is over but the memories you’ve created along the way will stay in our hearts forever.

A private family service will precede a gathering on Monday, August 16, 2010, at Cedar Heights Community Hall in Blind Bay, BC. The family requests that friend’s join them from 10am to 1pm at the community hall for a Celebration of Louise’s Life. In lieu of flowers, donations honoring Louise’s life may be made to the charity of your choice.
